The Ability to Understand Both Sides
In 2004, Alan Baskin and Tom Bade formed Bade Baskin Richards. Bill Richards joined the firm in January, 2011. Our practice areas are wide-ranging. Alan is a trial lawyer whose practice emphasizes securities arbitrations, securities enforcement and regulatory matters, commercial litigation and white collar criminal cases. Tom has long advised large and small corporations and individuals in the areas of federal and state tax matters, business planning and transactions, estate planning, estate administration and probate. Bill is a trial lawyer whose practice combines experience in sophisticated commercial and civil rights disputes, employment litigation, and class action defense. Both Tom and Alan have recently been selected as Southwest Super Lawyers for 2011 in their respective practice areas. Alan was also named a 2009 Super Lawyer, and Bill was honored by the Conference of Western Attorneys General in 2010 with the Jim Jones Public Service Award, an honor conferred on a single public attorney within among the group's multi-state membership.
As lawyers, we are unusual in terms of our experience on both sides of the cases we handle. Alan is a former assistant attorney general in the Organized Crime and Fraud Section of the Criminal Division of the Arizona Attorney General's Office and was senior counsel in the Enforcement Section of the Securities Division of the Arizona Corporation Commission. He has spent most of his career working on securities matters. His background gives him special insight when representing people who prosecuted by securities regulators or criminal justice agencies. Tom spent three years as an attorney adviser with the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service in Washington, D.C. Today, he represents businesses in state and federal tax matters. Bill has worked as the Senior Litigation Counsel for the Civil Division of the Arizona Attorney General's Office, as a litigation shareholder with a large Phoenix law firm, and as an Army Judge Advocate General's Corps officer, gaining broad experience in large dollar, complex commercial and government trial work.
Most of our clients come to the firm as a result of referrals from attorneys and clients. We offer personal, responsive service not found in most large law firms.
